TLDR

Google will automatically enable Local Inventory Ads for all Shopping campaigns starting August 31, eliminating the ability to disable them via API and requiring advertisers to update their workflows.

Search Engine Land reports that Google has officially confirmed Local Inventory Ads will be enabled by default across all Shopping campaigns as of August 31. Advertisers will no longer be able to disable the feature through the Google Ads API, forcing those who previously kept local and online inventory separate to revise their campaign configuration and code. The update aligns Shopping campaigns with Performance Max for Retail, where local ads are already mandatory by default.
