How it works
How Paid Media News works
Paid Media News by Eric Mandell turns the daily flood of ad-platform news into one ranked feed. Eric chooses the sources and sets the ranking rules; the pipeline applies them to every story, around the clock.

From 25 sources to one ranked feed
- 1
Monitor
Every 30 minutes, we check 25 sources, including official Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and Meta announcements, PPC and ad-tech publications, and respected practitioner blogs.
- 2
Merge duplicates
New articles are compared against recent coverage. When several outlets report the same change, they're merged into one story that lists every outlet that covered it.
- 3
Summarize and filter
Each story gets a TL;DR, a short summary and a topic. Summaries are AI-assisted and grounded strictly in the source article. Only paid search, paid social and ad-platform stories make it onto this site.
- 4
Score importance
Each story is scored 0 to 100 for how much it matters to people managing ad spend, using the rubric below.
- 5
Publish
Stories appear in the feed and the RSS feed within minutes, filterable by topic, time period and breaking news, and always linked to the original.
How the importance score works
The importance score is judged from a paid media practitioner's point of view:
- 81–100 · Major
- Auction or bidding changes, major new ad formats or inventory, targeting, privacy or tracking policy shifts, and outages affecting ad delivery or reporting.
- 61–80 · Significant
- New campaign types, automation and bidding tools, creative formats, and search changes that affect ad placement.
- 41–60 · Notable
- Adjacent industry news with no clear tie to campaign management.
- 21–40 · Routine
- Minor UI changes and small reporting tweaks.
- 0–20 · Trivial
- Tangential or low-value items.
What you get
One feed instead of 20 tabs
We track 25 industry sources and check them every 30 minutes, so you don't have to visit each one.
Every story once
When several outlets cover the same news, you see one story with a list of who reported it, not the same headline five times.
Ranked by what matters
Each story gets an importance score from 0 to 100, judged by its impact on campaign performance, spend, targeting and tracking, not by clicks or recency.
Read it in 30 seconds
A one-line TL;DR and a short summary on every story, with a direct link to the full original article.
Always credited
Every story names and links the outlet that reported it. We summarize the industry's reporting; we don't pass it off as our own.
Free, no ads, no signup
No ads, no paywall and nothing to sign up for. Open the site and read.
Straight from the platforms
Alongside industry publications, we track official announcements from Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Meta and Google Marketing Platform.
RSS for your workflow
Pipe the feed into your RSS reader or a Slack channel so platform changes reach your team where they already work.
What we don't do
- We don't claim to break news we didn't break. Every summary credits and links its source.
- We don't sell placements or rank stories by who paid.
- We don't run ads or put coverage behind a paywall.
Keep up with paid media news in minutes
