TLDR

Meta has launched a new Automatic Events feature in Events Manager that resembles a four-year-old tool of the same name, but both toggles remain active, creating confusion about their differences and purpose.

Jon Loomer reports that Meta has introduced a new Automatic Events option in Events Manager Settings that enables AI to automatically create and manage standard events on websites. The feature mirrors functionality from a 2022 tool called "Track Events Automatically Without Code," but adds a management dashboard and clearer AI-powered event detection. The confusion stems from Meta's failure to fully retire the old toggle, inconsistent Help Center documentation that references both features interchangeably, and minimal functional differentiation between them—both operate on the same premise of automatically detecting actions that should trigger standard events. New pixels created after August 3, 2026, will have Automatic Events enabled by default.
